Kearsarge North is a 3,268 foot mountain located in Carrol County of the White Mountains in New Hampshire. The summit features a fire tower with incredible 360 degree views. This is not the same mountain as Kearsarge Mountain in Warner New Hampshire.

Elevation gain: 2,536 feet

Distance: 5.7 miles roundtrip

Trails

Kearsage North Trail

Begin your hike on the Kearsarge North trail where you will pass by a residential area. You will enter the forest, where the steepness increases steadily. Until the summit, the trail stays at a moderate pitch the entire route, with a few good view points once you pop out from the trees. Continue climbing upwards until you reach the base of the tower located the the summit of Kearsarge North. To descend, retrace your steps and follow the same way you came from.

Parking

The parking area for the Mount Kearsarge North trail is located off of Hurricane Mountain Road, near Intervale, New Hampshire. There are very limited parking spots at the trailhead. There is also street parking available.

Directions

To get to the Kearsarge North Trail parking area

From Route 16, take Hurricane Mountain road and head East. The trailhead will be on your left about a half mile from Kearsarge Road.

Weather

Always be sure to check out the latest update on the forecast before heading out on any hike in New Hampshire. Though Mount Kearsarge isn’t a 4,000 footer, the climate on top is similar to the higher mountains of the region. Be prepared. Here is a detailed forecast of the next four days:

Patchy fog before 7am, then rain showers likely between 8am and 2pm, then rain. Cloudy, with a high near 48. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Rain before 2am, then a chance of rain showers between 2am and 4am, then a chance of rain showers and patchy fog between 4am and 5am, then patchy fog and a slight chance of rain showers. Cloudy, with a low around 45. South wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
